NEED FOR SECURITY CONSCIOUSNESS

In view of the insecurity posed by the activities of the Boko Haram Islamic sect in Nigeria, below are tips on how to be security conscious while in the country

·         Best way to stop a crime is to prevent it.

·         Need to be very familiar with your environment.
·         Be very conscious while driving -  watch vehicles following you and those in front of you.

·                Be very unpredictable with movements -  do not undertake the same routine Everyday.

·         Take note of any suspicious character, car, motorcycle etc. if in doubt, text a friend and details – just in case.

·         Make sure your movement is known by either your wife, brother or close friend. You should be accountable to at least one person

·         In case of explosion -  go flat on the floor, observe and run away from the scene as fast as possible.

·         Do not confront anyone with a weapon when you do not have one except if you are 100% sure you can disarm him without injury to your person.

·         Make sure you have the emergency police line in your area.

·         A criminal is not known by the way he looks so be careful how to judge an apparently “locally or well dressed” person.

·         Avoid late nights and social gatherings in the night.

·         Be careful at religious gatherings and visits to Para-military offices.

·         Keep some form of protection e.g. bottle, baton, cutlass or anything harmful that may give you some form of protection

·         Exercise regularly, you may have to run when the need arises.
Pray constantly as closeness to God is the best protection anyone can ever have.
